Congrats to Ft. Wayne’s Chris Strawbridge for his dominating performance in the Advanced class at the Amateur Championship at Bowling Green over the weekend. It’s always nice to see a Hoosier win something in Kentucky. The Advanced lead card final nine was taped live with commentary by Terry Miller and Avery Jenkins and can be seen here…

It is time once again to renew your Indianapolis Disc Golf Club membership. Most memberships expired at the end of 2013. You can check your membership status on the Members page. Names shown in Bold are current for 2014. It’s just $10 to renew your membership for another great year of disc golf with the IDGC.
Thanks to all disc golfers that participated in our annual charity drive. This year we split the donations between Gleaners Food Bank and the Washington Park Basket Fund. Our 4 charity events raised a total of $1,330. The Washington Park basket fund will receive $665 and the IDGC will also donate $665 to Gleaners. Greg Blatz also made an additional donation to Gleaners of $500 for a total $1,165 to the local food bank. Once again, the generosity of disc golfers shines through and brightens the lives of the hungry in central Indiana!
This Sunday is the 25th annual Indy Ice Bowl. This is the finale of our charity fundraiser series. We will be playing 2 rounds at Brookside Park. The forcast looks favorable with a high in the low 30′s. Remember the Ice Bowl rules…
1. We will not cancel the Ice Bowl due to weather conditions.
2. No Wimps and No Whiners!
3. Be there or be a wimp!
For those who might not have been aware of this, you can see all of your (or anyone else’s) individual tournament placings and full statistics by clicking on your name on a Tournament Results page. So, for example, if you are looking at the results for a tournament and you click on Jim Trueblood, you can see all of the IDGC affiliated tournaments (including the Summer and Fall Series) he has been in since the beginning of 2012, where he placed, what his scores were, and a summary of his top 3 finishes by division.
Nineteen players braved brutal weather conditions to compete in the 20th annual Wild Turkey Shoot. The final results can be found here.
This was the first of the IDGC’s winter charity events which will raise money for both Gleaner’s Food Bank and the replacement baskets for holes 10 through 18 at Washington Park. The next event will be the 2014 Mohawk New Year’s Day Worst Shot Scramble. Bring a partner so you can play a great course and support two great causes!
The Indianapolis Disc Golf Club’s annual charity circuit of events begins this Sunday with the 20th annual Wild Turkey Shoot at Northwestway Disc Golf Course. This year, half of the funds raised during the charity circuit will go the Washington Park Basket Fund (we still need new baskets for the back nine) and the other half will go to our traditional charity, Gleaners Food Bank. The circuit will continue with the Mohawk New Years Worst Shot Scramble, The Boondocks Blizzard, and culminate with the 25th annual Indy Ice Bowl. For dates and details see the events page.
